What is AILUROS?
AILUROS is a design-led object brand making ceramic feeding ware for cats — built around the same intention as anything else in a considered home . The first product is The Dining Set: a modular ceramic bowl and plate system designed around feline anatomy and the daily ritual of mealtime.

What is The Ailurophile?
The Ailurophile is the AILUROS editorial platform — a space for writing on cats, design, ritual, and the culture of living well with animals. It sits alongside the brand as its own thing: part journal, part cultural archive. You can read it at ailuros.co/blogs/the-ailurophile.

Is AILUROS a woman-owned or independent brand?
Yes. AILUROS is independently owned and operated — founded and run by one person, from the Bay Area.

The Dining Set

 

What is whisker fatigue, and why does it matter?
Whisker fatigue occurs when a cat's whiskers repeatedly contact the sides of a deep or narrow bowl during eating. Whiskers are highly sensitive — constant stimulation causes stress and discomfort, and can cause cats to avoid their bowl or eat less than they should. Wide, shallow bowls eliminate the contact entirely.

Is the ceramic BPA and lead-free?
Yes. All pieces are human-grade ceramic — non-toxic, lead-free, and BPA-free.

Will the Dining Set work for other animals, like small dogs?
The Dining Set is designed specifically around feline anatomy and eating behavior. That said, the wide, shallow form may suit small dogs with similar needs.

How do I clean the ceramic pieces?
Dishwasher safe. For hand washing, mild soap and warm water. No abrasive scrubbers — they are not necessary and will dull the finish over time.
